The history of Verney-Carron:
two centuries of French excellence in gunsmithing
Creating for hunters since 1820
For more than two centuries, Verney-Carron has embodied French excellence in the service of hunters. In 2020, our family business—the oldest in the field of hunting gunsmithing in France—proudly celebrated 200 years of passion, innovation, and tradition.
Since 1820, generations of master gunsmiths have followed in each other's footsteps with one unchanging goal: to offer hunters and nature lovers exceptional weapons that combine craftsmanship and technical excellence.

A legacy born in the heart of Saint-Étienne
Founded in 1820 in Saint-Étienne, the historic capital of French gunsmithing, Verney-Carron is one of the oldest gunsmithing companies still in operation. Its history is inextricably linked to that of the city, its master craftsmen, and its unique expertise, passed down from generation to generation.
From its inception, Verney-Carron has distinguished itself through the quality of its weapons and its commitment to innovation. Combining traditional craftsmanship with a quest for performance, it quickly established itself as a benchmark in the world of hunting and prestige weapons.
Opening up new horizons
At the turn of the 21st century, Verney-Carron affirmed its desire to expand its expertise beyond hunting. True to its spirit of innovation, the brand turned its attention to the security, defense, and sport shooting sectors, developing non-lethal weapons, technical equipment, and protection systems that meet the demands of the most challenging environments.
It was in this spirit that Verney-Carron created Lebel, a brand dedicated to meeting the requirements of law enforcement, military units, and security professionals. Inspired by France's military heritage, Lebel embodies rigor, reliability, and performance in the field, offering high-quality French solutions that are perfectly suited to the operational realities and needs of institutions.

Hunting, a true way of life
At Verney-Carron, hunting is a way of life, a deep connection with nature, the silence of the forests, the bond with your dog, and the joy of sharing. But it is also a commitment: hunters have always contributed to the natural balance by regulating species and preserving ecosystems.
In fact, humans have been hunting since the dawn of time. Originally, hunters, in search of food, were predators necessary for the balance of wildlife, an integral part of the cycle of life on Earth. Today, hunters take on an even more proactive role: that of indispensable actors in the protection of nature. Their in-depth knowledge of species allows them to participate in their regulation and sustainability, as well as in the conservation and beauty of landscapes.
